Our coproduction PLEASURE about the American porn industry has just been announced for The Official Selection 2020 of the Cannes Film Festival. Due to the pandemic, Cannes will take place in an adapted form this year. From June 22 to 26, the Film Festival will host an online film fair for film professionals and will have an official selection including the Dutch coproduction PLEASURE.

Ninja Thyberg's debut feature PLEASURE is a journey into the American porn industry and follows 20-year-old Bella from Sweden, who arrives in Los Angeles with the dream of becoming the next big porn star. The film is raw but offers both a human and humorous portrayal of a male-dominated world seen from a female perspective.

“It has been my dream and goal with the project from the very start, so of course it feels fantastic. That a film about porn is invited in to the most exclusive venue is huge, even if it is not a physical festival this year. It is brave of Cannes, and important! Porn is an extremely big part of our culture and is being consumed today more than ever, whether we like it or not. It exists in a parallell world of shadows, and few dare touch on the subject. We masturbate in secret, but distance ourselves publicly and stigmatize the people in the business, laying on them a shame that is really our own. I look forwards to showing the film to the world as soon as it opens up again!” – Ninja Thyberg
